Between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian
Apennines, along the course of the river Serchio, there is
a wide valley whose slopes go right down to the river from
the mountain peaks, in wide terraces. The thick woods of Beech
and Chestnut are inter-rupted by large cultivated clearings
and by lots of villages that, with their bell-towers unite
the blue sky to the green of the fields. The traditional hospitality
of the people invites to the search for tranquillity and the
slow pace of the rural world, completely lost in the hustle
and bustle of the cities, in this corner of Tuscany. "....
Folks go out and return home without even putting the key
in their pocket. "
